From this musical link investigation of The Rum Tum Tugger and Bim Bom, the musical links between musical theatre and bossa nova are evident with some differences as well. With a different cultural, musical and historical background, two distinctive musical cultures certainly have different influences, thus, interpreted differently as well. Firstly, both musical pieces use wide range of imitation, repetition and sequence that provides a strong sense of captivation to the listeners. Secondly, their use of melody lines is deeply linked to one another but have some differences on the way how vocals are used. The melodic range of both musical pieces are quite small and this makes the music itself more stable and consistent. However, Bim Bom contains more jazzy and bluesy atmosphere in the music through syncopated rhythms. This conveys that this piece is influenced by jazz. On the other hand, syncopation is quite hard to detect in The Rum Tum Tugger. Rather than jazz influence, The Rum Tum Tugger has a rock influence which can be heard through its drum beat.
